My Pledge To Democrats

I've been increasingly irritated by the behaviour of a lot of left-leaning people over the last two years. Sharon Cobb's blog this morning has moved into the category of blogs I have stopped reading. If I'm not going to listen to Rush Limbaugh because of his bombast, I'm not going to read a liberal blog that engages in the same style of writing. I don't read TN Guerilla Women either.

I get that you folks don't like George Bush. He's not my favourite either. But I would sincerely like to see the name-calling and childish hyperbole come to an end.

I figure now that I was proven wrong and the Dems have taken at least the House, if not the Senate as well, this is a good time to put my mouth where my money is.

This is my Pledge Of Adult Behaviour In Politics. Feel free to call me on it if I deviate in any way.

1. I will not gin up ridiculous names for Democrats in power.
You all can keep your "King George" and other silliness. Playground name-calling is not going to help bring this country together. Yes, I know there are those on the right guilty of this too. I am not Ann Coulter. I am not Rush Limbaugh. I am a Christian American who is tired of the hate.

2. I will refrain from wild conspiracy theories as excuses for why the party in power is in power.
One word. Diebold.

3. I will not go about shouting "Impeach Pelosi".

4. I will realise that even though we are of opposing ideologies on most things, we are all still Americans and will never accomplish anything if all we do is fight childishly over the ever-dwindling spoils of American leadership..

But what if she deserves it? ;)

Seriously, I agree with you 100%.

This is now why I talk about dance, bad outfits, and my cats.

I agree in part, but then I hear how much you dig Smantix's style, and I'm left bewildered.

"but then I hear how much you dig Smantix's style,"

not his WRITING style. His as-a-person-around-a-table style.

Which is totally different.

I don't read "Six Meat" anymore, either.

But it rolls off the tongue so well, don't you think?

(This comment brought to you by snark and sarcasm, my two best friends.)

Thanks Kat, for a refreshingly thoughtful and patriotic post. If we can all keep such a positive attitude, some actual compromise and governing might occur. I hope.

You're upset about that post? What a WATB you are.

Thanks for the loyalty.
What you posted on my site was an attack of me, not my ideas, and to single me out when I am usually very moderate is certainly your right, but it's not the Kat I knew last year.
I can't stand Bush. You feel differently. That doesn't mean I would announce to the world I'll stop reading you or someone else because I disagree with a post.
Very unkind and not what you pontificated in the past about political disagreements.
Thanks again for UNendorsing my blog because you didn't agree with my post. (An BTW...it was the FIRST post I ever said "King George.")

" but it's not the Kat I knew last year."

Your posts over the last few days are not those of the Sharon I knew last year, either. Yes, it was your first "King George", but there's also been the Neil Young video of "Impeach the President", the baseless accusation that Iraq held a special court on Sunday for the Saddam trial in order to sway the election and other fervid things.

I didn't link to a single post (Hamletta, I'm talking to you) because there are several examples, I've just listed a few. Your blog seems to be getting meaner.

The King George thing was the last straw, though. I can't read you if you're gonna turn into Six Meat Guerilla Lite. That doesn't stop anyone else from reading. I'm just saying what I'm thinking.

I'm FINE with political disagreements. I'm not fine with reading stuff that sounds like it comes from either Free Republic OR Democratic Underground.

My blog isn't getting meaner. I can't stand Bush--never could stand him and this is the first time something good has happened for people who believe he is destroying th country.
A difference of opinion. Fine.

But to write ridicule of me personally is mean spirited. (Like you commented on my blog and singling me out in a post on your blog)

I hate this President--always have.
Nothing changed. But for you to pick on one of the few liberals who has consistantly shown respect for conservative bloggers (and still does) is completely uncalled for.

You don't like a couple of post out of thousands and suddenly I am sixmeatguerilla.
Very fair. NOT.

You're being unreasonably unfair to me.

Donna,

You will note that more than THREE HOURS BEFORE you decided to take after me here and at Sharon's blog I had already apologised to Sharon.

I realize that no one is allowed to like me as I've offended an overpaid waitress with no reporting skills.

But unfair? If you can't read me then you can't read Nashville Is Talking either. It's nothing but juvenile attacks.

But 6MB can't offer you a job so I can understand why there's no kissing up to us.

A) I like you.

B) I don't kiss up to NiT for the work. Yes, the money is nice, but that's beside the point. I've decided to make my peace with the parts of NiT that make me uncomfortable because it's a bridge to a larger community. I have come to know a LOT of people through NiT.

C) I don't read 6MB because I'm not into the attack nature. I know that sounds stupid as all hell, because most of the time I agree with the POV @ 6MB, just not the writing style.

All you people need to grow up. Kat has a right not to read someone's blog if it bothers her. She also has a right to say so on her blog. She was trying to get away from the bitterness and hatred and you all started ganging up on her. Get over yourselves!
