Harry Potter Teaser Trailer Question

For those of you who know and/or care, I have a question about the teaser trailer.

Does it look like the Six are are on broomsticks for the flight to the Ministry? There are two short snatches--past a ship and past Parliament--and I've watched closely. It looks like broomsticks to me. I hope not--there was no reason to NOT have it be Thestrals.

Yes, they are on brooms. No, I don't know why.

And you are right.

Apparently the thestrals are in other scenes, however, because Rupert Grint has remarked on how much fun one scene was to shoot.

Now I have to go read OoTP again.

I don't get it. Thestrals are invisible. It wouldn't have been a problem at all to show them "riding" thin air.

I obviously need to re-read the book before seeing the movie.

Oi, darlin'. I agree (re thin air). It makes my head ache to think what they COULD do and don't. And what would be simple for them to do and they do something completely riddikulus instead.

That said, I'm still trying to recover from them casting Imelda Staunton as Dolores Umbridge. I LOVE Imelda Staunton. I HATE Dolores Umbridge. I had almost gotten over Clive Owen not being Sirius Black and then they do this to me.

Although I do think the girl they cast as Tonks looks quite intriguing. And Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix! Whee! Genuis! I'm just glad she and Emma Thompson don't have any scenes together, heh. Ahem.

That's not the Six. That's the Advance Guard. I saw some pics in hi(gher)-def, and you can clearly see Tonks and Kingsley (and I think the other two figures are Moody and Lupin).

The thestrals are definitely in, though. There's an HBO special that shows the design and a clip of Luna talking about them.

I'm more concerned with the fact - as I've ascertained from some set pics - that they have apparently changed "I must not tell lies" to "I will not break rules" for no apparent reason.

Clive Owen...yes. He would have been a much better Black. And Gary Oldman would have been a much better Snape.

And my dog would have been a much better Dumbledore. Seriously, I have a real problem with Gambon as Dumbledore.

That's not the Six. That's the Advance Guard.

Aha! Makes much more sense. So that'll be the Advance Guard on the way to 12 GP, no? If so, there'll be a lot of flying around London, I think. Only thing is that as beautiful as that shot is, it sure doesn't jibe with Moody's keeping the AG above the clouds and freezing the whole way. Oh well. I can live with it if just for that shot.

that they have apparently changed "I must not tell lies" to "I will not break rules" for no apparent reason.

Wha?!?? Why do that? The point of "I must not tell lies" is just how jarring it is simply because Harry is NOT telling lies. "I must not break rules" is a truism that is less jarring.

It's also less impactful for Harry to wave the scar of "I must not break rules" in front of Scrimgeour when he asks for Harry's loyalty over Christmas.

Okay, this is me, going to the bookshelf instead of to bed now.

Oh, y'all did know that they released H-BP on my birthday last year? Very exciting. We had to go to Target that morning (long story) and they were unpacking the boxes Iin the aisle. I asked one of the girls if they were keeping the boxes and she said, "No ma'am. Would you like one?" I said, "Sure, because it's dated with my birthday." She grinned hugely and said, "I don't blame you. I love 'em too."

Lovely child, she was.

It sounds like the movie is going to fall far short of the book once again. I'll probably hate it the first time through just because I'm spending the whole time going, "That's not right!" or "Why did they do that???!" But eventually, I'll learn to accept it for what it is and just appreciate the book that much more. I still can't wait to see it! Clive Owen would have been a perfect Sirius!! I don't think it would be possible to find an actress as foul as Umbridge!
