A Strange & Senseless Question
I think it may have something to do with Sesame Street, but ever since I was a kid I have mentally assigned gender and personality to both letters and numerals. Does anyone else do this?

Hesistantly, I admit to assigning genders, as well as backstories and assigning relationships to numbers 1-10.
Oh my gosh! Somebody else does THAT?!?
Like, how 7 & 9 have a blistering love-hate relationship, and 3 is 2's big brother and looks after him?
And 5 is everyone's drunk grandpa?
And 4 is the maiden aunt who never got laid?
Good lord.
I always thought that '4' was the inspiration for Dylan's 'Just like a Woman'...positively!

I haven't assigned genders, but am interested that you have because I've always assigned colors to numerals and letters.
