The Bitchy View

I never watch "The View". Okay, there was that one time, but just to see Vin Diesel. And, oh yeah, that other time to see Daniel Day-Lewis. In short, I don't watch "The View" for its stable of nattering chattering gals, but for its rotating crop of mens.

So, I don't really care that Rosie O'Donnell has gotten bored with being a mom and decided to fill Meredith Viera's slot on "The View".

Reasons O'Donnell Bugs Me:

1. Totally fake "beard" crush on Tom Cruise.
2. Hypocritical anti-gun position. (You can't have a gun, but my bodyguards for my children can.)
3. Was completely bitchy and rude to Meat Loaf when he appeared on her show.

See, I can overlook the other two, but anyone who disses the Meat is on my list.

Don't forget the whole "Annie Get Your [CENSORED]" episode from a few years back.

I really don't get her as a replacement for Viera. Now, if they move Elisabeth into the "news anchor" position and put Rosie in "Elisabeth's place" I can sort of get that. Rosie is not a news person, she's a controversary, opinion person, like Star and Joy. Elisabeth has the makings of being an achor sometime, IMHO, and since Star and Joy don't have those aspirations, or so it seems, put Elisabeth on the forefront and add Rosie in there for the commentary.

But that's just me and I've already spent more time "talking" about this than it's worth!

Tim, my husband, hates her with a passion. I guess she was really rude to Tom Selleck or something and he's never forgiven her.

Meredith Viera was the only hostess with an actual journalistic background on the show (sans Barbara Walters.) I don't think I can stomach the show now. I watch sometimes for Joy's cutting remarks and Star Jones. I love me some black women!

She WAS horribly rude to Selleck. In fact, that's what got her started on her whole anti-gun crusade.

I don't like to fall back on a cliche, but I really don't like it when people have an unhealthy fear of guns. For that matter, I don't like it when people have an unhealthy fear of snakes or mice either. These things are dangerous for a variety of reasons, but they don't deserve a screaming hysterical reaction. You're actually safer with a gun if you know how it works, how it should be treated and whatever quirks it may have. Sticking your fingers in your ears and saying "lalalala guns are bad" is not the best approach.

But I can understand it. Especially if you're a mother with a small child in the house. If you don't want guns around your kids, that's fantastic. But don't start marching on Washington to limit MY rights to own a gun and use it properly. Cause then we've got problems with how we define "America."

Fritz, I, too, love me some black women. I want to be Queen Latifah when I grow up.

Really? I intern for her management company. Maybe I can pull a few strings.
