Dear Brand-New Neighbours

I realise you may not have received a copy of the Covenants and Restrictions for the Homeowners' Association. That is especially unfortunate for me because if you had you would know that you can't do construction before 9:00am.

Seriously, folks. Hammering and nailgunning your fence at 7:00am on a Saturday is NOT a good way to make friends. Especially when your fence project is right next to my bedroom.

You are going to get kicked out of the Libertarians with your Terry Frank attitude.

Covenants and Restrictions for the Homeowner's Association, indeed.

Don't knock the covenant. No one forces anybody into one.

I was dead set against them, until I discoverd some neighbors see cutting grass as a quarterly activitiy, trucks on blocks as lawn art, and celebrate Xmas year round (at least according to the lights)

Your freedom to build your fence at the crack of dawn ends where my sleeping in on Saturday begins.

'Sides which, I'm with S&F. The CC&Rs are the perfect model of a gentlemen's agreement.

Did they make you sign your covenant in your own blood?

I thought that was a little weird. Wait, where's our baby?

We may be the only rural subdivision in the WORLD that would welcome annexation by our county seat, if for no other reason than to see its Codes Department come out and fine our Cat-Killing NeighborTM for whacking together his fifth rattletrap outbuilding, aka The Meth Lab Annex.

But that's beside the point. Restrictive covenants would enable us to do more than hope that he'd fall on his leafblower butt-first, though.

Nothing says life, liberty and property like the words "restrictive covenant".

We just have to guesstimate what our covenant says, because the previous owners didn't leave it here and we would have to pay twenty dollars to get a copy. No thanks. I'm guessing that maybe the 9pm lawnmower house and the new addition with unmatching bricks house are in the same boat.

yikes. You beat me. Our neighbor likes to mow his lawn at 6:30 on sat. mornings in the summer.
